Empowering Business Owners

How Bayside OT Is Building a Better Workplace

Running a small business is rewarding, but it can also feel isolating when you’re carrying the weight of compliance, culture, and staff wellbeing on your own.

This was the reality for Virginia Rendle, Director of Bayside OT, until she attended the HR & Wellbeing for Redlands Business Operators event hosted by the Redlands Regional Jobs Committee.

“I was looking for ways to make my workplace more compliant and support my employees better. What I didn’t expect was to walk away with insights that could also help me look after my own mental health as a leader.” – Virginia Rendle, Bayside OT

The event brought together small business operators from across Redlands for expert-led sessions on:

✔️HR best practices
✔️Fair Work compliance
✔️Creating psychologically safe workplaces
✔️Supporting staff and self-wellbeing

“As therapists, we’re always focused on our patients. But this reminded me how important it is to care for ourselves too, so we can lead effectively.”

This is exactly what the RRJC’s How to Employ initiative aims to achieve, giving small businesses access to the tools, resources and confidence they need to attract, retain and support their teams.
