On Thursday 19 June 2025, Redlands College Design students swapped the classroom for a live construction site, and in the process, gained insights that could shape their future careers.
The industry immersion, hosted by Future Fitouts, gave students a first-hand look at the construction process at Coopers Plains State School. From project management and site safety to the trades bringing a refurbishment project to life, students saw how collaboration and teamwork drive success in the industry.
They also had the chance to:
✔️ Interact with site managers and trade professionals
✔️ Explore pathways into construction careers
✔️ Try their hand at practical, hands-on activities
“We are incredibly grateful to Future Fitouts for investing time and energy into creating such an inspiring experience for our students. They didn’t just explain the construction process, they brought it to life, showing our students what collaboration and industry excellence look like in practice.
We’re also thankful to Transdev for partnering with us to provide transport for the day. Their support helps remove logistical barriers and enables us to offer these enriching experiences more often. Partnerships like this empower schools to broaden student horizons and connect learning to the real world.”
– Joshua Schmidt, Design Teacher, Redlands College
This opportunity was made possible through the support of the Redlands Regional Jobs Committee and its partnership with Transdev, which provided complimentary transport for students. By removing logistical barriers, these partnerships are helping schools connect students to real-world learning experiences that inspire and inform their career pathways.
The Redlands Regional Jobs Committee is proudly supported and funded by the Queensland Government.
